H1N1 Shots Now Available to the General Public posted by Graham Honaker
   
 

Louisville Metro Government is offering immunization clinics for anyone interested in obtaining the H1N1 vaccine. The clinics will operate four days a week from January 4 through January 22 and will be by appointment only. Both the nasal flu mist and the injection forms of the vaccine will be available.

By an overwhelming majority, the Kentucky General Assembly adopted legislation that includes provisions for new funding options for the Ohio River Bridges Project. The bill, part of House Bill 3, passed the Senate 35-0 and the House vote was 86-10.

Although election day has passed, the work to build better libraries is just beginning. With the 67% to 33% failure of the Library Tax, Metro Government must now look within itself to fund library improvements. To ensure we have the opportunity to move the Library Master Plan forward, two ordinances (O-278-11-07) and (O-279-11-07) were submitted for a first reading at the Thursday, November 8 2007 meeting of the Louisville Metro Council.

District 11 Funding Will Assist ConnectKentucky posted by Graham Honaker
   
 

Members of the Louisville Metro Council, AT&T and Hilliard Lyons held a press conference at the Lac Viet Academy to announce the awarding of $175,000 in funds to ConnectKentucky’s No Child Left Offline Project. The allocated funds will be used to install or upgrade computers used by students at locally operated non-profit centers. The funding will go towards the installation of computers at sites in Louisville Metro and marks the first local partnership in Jefferson County.

 




District 11, Ninth and O Baptist Church, MSD, and Utility Companies Partner to Fight Graffiti in District 11 posted by Graham Honaker
   
 

Councilman Kevin Kramer announced a new partnership that will fight graffiti attacks in District 11. Kramer has submitted a Neighborhood Development Funding request that will allocate funding to Ninth and O Baptist Church (4401 Breckenridge Lane) to purchase paint, brushes, rollers, and safety vests for church volunteers. Councilman Kevin Kramer will hold a District 11 Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, October 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church. Representatives from the Police and Fire departments, Inspections, Permits, and Licenses, Public Works, Brightside, Animal Services, the Health Department, and LG&E will be present to address concerns/issues from District 11 constituents.

  On September 11, Councilman Kramer met with representatives from Boys Haven, the Mid Dale-Klondike Block Watch Association, the Metro Department of Neighborhoods, Canaan Community Development Corporation, and the Louisville Metro Police Department. The purpose of the meeting was to track the progress on initiatives in the Mid-Dale/Klondike corridor and increase communication between the apartment management and the surrounding community.

Louisville Metro Police now has a new online crime mapping tool called MetroWatch, part of the Keep Louisville Safe program. The new tool allows citizens to go online and map crimes that have occurred in their neighborhoods during the past 30 days.

Graffiti has been removed from the Breckenridge Lane Detention Basin. The basin, constructed last year, has been the target of graffiti over the past several months. The District 11 office is currently working with MSD and the Louisville Metro Police Department to prevent future graffiti incidents. If you see any suspicious activity taking place in the basin, please notify the 6th Division Police Department at 574-2187 or 574-2111.

Councilman Kramer and the Canaan Community Development Corporation are sponsoring their second Computer Literacy Classes for Senior Citizens of Metro Louisville. Seniors will be given computer instruction once a week for five consecutive weeks starting September 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Each class will last approximately 2 hours and will take place at Canaan Christian Church (2840 Hikes Lane).
